Commonly Asked Questions

Where are you located & what are your hours?
We’re opening soon at 675 East Broadway (corner of Fraser & Broadway)! As we renovate the store, keep an eye out for us at pop-up shops around the city. We have monthly pop-ups at the Patagonia Vancouver store at 1994 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, regular appearances at the Vancouver Farmers’ Markets (locations vary), and more! Scroll to the top of this page to find out where & when we’ll pop-up next, or sign up for our newsletter and Facebook events. Stay tuned for the opening date for our permanent retail store!
What is your Bring Your Own Container (BYOC) policy?
At Nada, we offer every one of our products unpackaged so that you can buy exactly what you need while wasting less. We encourage you to use your own containers, bags, or whatever else you have on hand to refill with food! Keeping our customers safe is our #1 priority; please ensure that whatever you bring is clean, dry, and easily labeled. When we say 100% package-free, we mean it – no paper or plastic bags, twist ties, elastics. If you forget your containers, we’ll have our own products for purchase or free recycled and sanitized containers available too!
What is the zero waste movement & how do I get on board?
Everyone has different definitions of ‘zero waste’ and what that means to them, but in general, we believe in the 5 R’s:
Refuse what you don’t need
Reduce what you do
Reuse what you have
Recycle when you can can’t refuse, reduce, or reuse
Rot (i.e. compost) anything that’s left
We’re constantly trying to improve, but for us, this means reducing the waste of our entire operations to as close to zero as possible – including paperless receipts, reusable supplier packaging, and donating all surplus food. We recommend tapping into your local online zero waste community, or starting your own! We facilitate Facebook groups across the country to help people get started on their zero waste journey.
How do you source?
At Nada, we value knowing where our food comes from, all the way from farm to compost bin. Check out our sourcing criteria here and learn why we love to support small businesses, local producers, and organic growing practices. Want more info? Just ask! We know most of our suppliers personally & love sharing their stories.
What is 100% Nada?
100% Nada is our customer loyalty program designed to encourage you to shop for your groceries differently.
How does Nada give back?
We’re all about community and giving back to those who are working with us to make our food system more just. We donate 1% of our sales to grassroots non-profit organizations with a focus on food education, food security, and marine & aquatic conservation Sign up for our newsletter to see who we’re currently pairing with, and if you have an idea for a great organization we could partner with, we’d love to hear! We’re members of 1% for the Planet and on track to become a certified B Corporation in early 2018!
I have more questions.
