Dear Our Nada Community,


2021 wasn’t what we expected it to be. Heatwaves, droughts, tornados, atmospheric rivers, flooding, and mud-slides, all on top of the lingering stressors of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ‘new normal’ has become an ever-changing term that we are all still trying to wrap our heads around. This year has taught us a lot, but most importantly, it’s taught us that our efforts against climate change have never been more essential than they are today.

As part of our efforts, we commit to do more than just selling package-free groceries. The global food system is responsible for 24% of global greenhouse gas emissions, including deforestation, farming, and food waste. Changing the food system is an important climate solution and reducing food-related greenhouse gas emissions is key to addressing climate change. At Nada, we’re in the business of making a better planet; the impacts of climate change are at our forefront, as the global population continues to grow, and the demand for food continues to rise, it’s crucial that we find ways to reduce the emissions associated with the food system.

As we enter a new year, we bring with us some hope. With the help of our community in the last two years, we’ve been able to save 573,082 upcycled containers for reuse, divert 3,509 Kgs of food from the landfill, donate $17,193 to our 1% for the Planet partners, and support an additional 73 local suppliers creating a more just food system. 

The need for climate action has never been greater, and with your help, we’re entering the 2022 year with high hopes for change. This report is the first of its kind, with the purpose of sharing the impact we’ve made in the past year, as well as the importance of continuing these efforts.
